Other-worldly creatures on two and four legs parade through Fairhope During The Haven’s 13th Annual Mystic Mutts of Revelry Parade


Almost 1,000 revelers paraded through downtown Fairhope during the 13th annual Mystic Mutts of Revelry (MMOR) Parade January 30. The “Woof Trek- A Rescue Odyssey” science fiction theme brought out almost 500 adults, 150 children and 300 pups for the annual fundraiser for homeless animals.


“We want to thank everyone who contributed to the overwhelming success of the parade. We had a 97 percent increase in profit Dog at MMOR 2016compared to all previous MMOR parades,” said MMOR Chairperson, Jenny Williams. We are incredibly appreciative of the support from the community.


Gorgeous weather brought out heavy crowds along the parade route. Parade watchers were treated to sci-fi and Mardi Gras costumes on mutts and humans alike. “The MMOR committee has worked for the several months to make the parade and this event amazing. The Haven will be joining animal shelters and rescue groups all over the country for the Best Friends adoption promotion “The One.” For the first two weeks in February (1st-15th), any animal can be adopted for only $14.
The One Cat image - Facebook Timeline 1200x1000Two adoption events will take place during this promotion. The first one will be on Feb. 6 at Pet Supermarket (11am-3pm). The second one will be at PetSmart on Feb. 13 (11am-3pm).


Just like dating competitions have procedures to find out how compatible contestants are with each other, The Haven has an adoption process. This process, which includes potential adopters filling out applications, assures each pet and family is perfectly matched. Dating competitions come with prizes contestants can win. The Haven sends each adopted pet home with prizes that include a free bag of Hills Science Diet and 30 days of free pet health insurance. All Haven animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, spayed/neutered, tested for heartworms and treated if necessary, tested for feline AIDS and leukemia, and receive monthly parasite prevention.

Has your dog been dreaming of galaxies far, far away?  Does he want Scotty to “Beam Him Up”?   It’s because he can’t wait for The Haven’s 13th Annual Mystic Mutts of Revelry Parade presented by McSharry's Irish Pub on Saturday, January 30, 2016.  This year’s parade theme is “Woof Trek - A Rescue Odyssey,” presented by McSharry’s Irish Pub.  

Led by Grand Marshals Rileigh and Raylee of the Angel Ride Foundation, the parade will begin at 1:00 pm from the Fairhoper’s Community Park located on the corner of S.
