The Haven is looking for a part-time Animal Care Technician at the shelter located in Fairhope.
Qualified candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills, are highly organized and detail-oriented and enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and are able to work well in challenging emotional settings. The ability to juggle multiple demands and work collaboratively is critical.
Ideal candidates will possess knowledge of safe animal handling techniques, common diseases of companion animals, basic disease control protocols and animal husbandry, basic breed identification and aging, vaccine administration, and basic veterinary technician skills.
Must possess a valid and unrestricted driver’s license and be able to obtain coverage under the organization’s insurance carrier. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds to a level of at least 4 feet high and have the ability to work continually in a high-paced environment for a minimum of 8 hours daily, 2-3 days a week minimum.
This entry-level part-time position starts at $10 per hour and has an initial 180-day probationary period. Basic work schedule will be 2-3 days per week from 7 am to approximately 4:00 pm but may vary. Candidates must be able to work weekends and holidays.
