Your gift helps The Haven rescue, rehabilitate and find life-long loving homes for more than 700 stray animals each year. Your support provides the resources we need to create a no-kill Baldwin County. For every dollar you give, 85% goes directly to helping animals and 15% provides effective professional leadership that means your gift is used efficiently.

Donate A Vehicle
The Haven accepts donations of working vehicles (Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles, etc.) which are sold to help provide funds to support our life-saving mission. Your gift is tax-deductible. If you would like to support us by donating your working vehicle, please email us at mgraham@havenforanimals.org or call our office at 251-929-2494.
After we receive your information you’ll receive a call to coordinate the pick up or drop off. When the vehicle is turned over to us you will receive your first receipt, which verifies that you donated to us on that date. The vehicle will be sold and once we process the proceeds we will mail you the final receipt for your records and tax purposes.

Donate to the Haven Resale Shop
The
Haven’s Resale Shop offers fine jewelry, antiques, furniture, DVDs, household items and more! The shop was created in 2002 and has been operated by a dedicated team of volunteers who help ensure that funds are generated to help The Haven’s homeless animal population. The Haven is a 501 (c) 3 no-profit animal shelter relying on donations and fundraisers. The shop is an important source of revenue for our shelter operations. Whether you are moving, spring cleaning, or just downsizing please consider donating your new or gently used items to the shop. We ask that you not donate items that are not sellable as it costs The Haven more funds to properly dispose of the items. When donating, take a look at all of the wonderful items the shop has for sale. Remember, we have GREAT bargains and it is for a GREAT cause.

Congratulations on taking the first step towards saving an animal when they need it most! Adopting a shelter dog or cat can be an extremely rewarding and exciting experience. Not only are you adding a new member to your family, but you are also saving a life that has been previously cast away. It is important that you and your family are prepared for the life-long commitment that comes with adopting a pet. To make sure you are ready for adopting, ask yourself these questions:
- Can you commit to caring for this animal for its entire life?
- What will you do with the pet if you have to move?
- Will you be able to afford unexpected medical bills for your pet?
- Will you have the time and resources to help correct any behavioral problems that the pet may have?
These are just a few of the situations that may come up during the lifetime of your pet. If you have any doubts that you would not be able to properly care for a pet in the situations above, it may not be the right time to adopt a pet.

This mobile pet pod has proven to be an effective way to bring community awareness of the over pet population problem as well as promote pet responsibility while helping to increase adoptions. Why Adopt?
Adopting a shelter pet can be a much different experience than purchasing from a breeder or pet store. While some shelter dogs and cats have been abused or neglected the majority of animals in shelters are there because of “people reasons”, not because they have done anything wrong. Things like divorce, lack of time, and financial problems are the most common reasons why pets lose their homes. When you adopt a shelter dog or cat, you are giving them a second chance at life and becoming the hero they deserve! Some of the great things you’ll experience when you adopt from a shelter:
- You’re saving a life that others have given up on
- Adopting a shelter pet is much less expensive than buying a pet from a store or breeder. In addition, all Haven dogs and cats are spayed or neutered and inoculated.
- You won’t be supporting puppy mills or stores that put profit ahead of the welfare of the animals
- Building lasting memories by adding a new four-legged friend to the family!
Application Process
When you meet a dog or cat that you would like to adopt you will be asked to complete a short Adoption Application. One of our Adoption Coordinator will then review your application and speak with you before finalizing the adoption process. While we want all of our dogs and cats to find loving homes, we are NOT the adoption police. We are not trying to find the perfect homes for each of our animals, but simply a good match for both the animal and the adopter.
Adoption Fees
Our adoption fees are an integral part of helping us continue to care for animals in need. This costs covers are wide range of services that would be much more expensive if done independently by an adopter. Everything from boarding and day-to-day care to emergency medical services is factored in when setting our adoption fees.
Dogs: The adoption fee for dogs is $90. This includes the dog being spayed or neutered, vaccinated for rabies, kennel cough, distemper, de-worming, nail trimming, medicated baths, and monthly flea preventatives. All dogs ages 6 months and older are tested for heartworms. If they are positive, they are treated by one of our professional veterinarians we partner with. If negative, we administer monthly heartworm preventive while at The Haven.
Cats: The adoption fee for cats is $65. This includes the cat being spayed or neutered, test for Feline AIDS and Feline Leukemia, vaccinations including rabies, de-worming, nail trimming, and monthly flea preventative. Cats are also tested for heartworms and if negative, receive monthly heartworm preventative while at The Haven.
