The Haven Hosts “Rescues & Runways” Pet Adoption Event at the Fairhope Arts & Crafts Festival This Weekend
FAIRHOPE, Ala. — The Haven No-Kill Animal Shelter will once again bring wagging tails, happy purrs, and a touch of runway flair to downtown Fairhope during the Fairhope Arts & Crafts Festival with its popular “Rescues & Runways” Pet Adoption Event.
The adoption event will take place on Saturday, March 21, and Sunday, March 22, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Greer’s Fairhope Market (75 S. Section St.), located in the heart of the festival footprint.
Festivalgoers will have the opportunity to meet adoptable pets and experience a fun, high-energy atmosphere designed to celebrate adoption and community. The event features The Haven’s signature red carpet runway, where adoptable dogs take center stage while the emcee interviews team members, volunteers, community partners, and adoptable dogs and puppies, highlighting each pet’s personality and story.
In addition to pet adoptions, attendees can enjoy face painting for kids, free goodies for children and families, live dog training demonstrations by Dog Training by Brittany, and helpful resources for pet owners.
“We love having The Haven here. It is always fun,” said Tanner, Store Manager at Greer’s Fairhope Market. “Last year we had higher sales on Saturday than the year before. We credit that to the entertainment of the red-carpet runway and the puppies, of course!”
Brittany Church, owner of Dog Training by Brittany and a dedicated Haven volunteer, will also be on site to provide hands-on guidance for new and prospective adopters. In addition to supporting the event, Brittany regularly donates her time at The Haven, working with shelter dogs to build basic skills and improve their adoptability while they wait for their forever homes.
“Adoption day is exciting, but it can also be overwhelming—in the best way,” said Michael Graham, Executive Director of The Haven. “That’s why partnerships like Greer’s and Dog Training by Brittany are so important. They help ensure adopters leave with the tools and confidence they need from day one. Every pet deserves a great start.”
Visitors to the festival are encouraged to stop by, meet adoptable pets, and experience the joy of adoption. All pets adopted through The Haven are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, receive flea, tick, and heartworm prevention, and are microchipped. Dogs are tested for heartworms and treated if positive. Cats are tested for FeLV/FIV. Adopters receive a free bag of Hill’s Science Diet pet food and coupons from local businesses.
