Paws on the Patio Pet Adoption Event Brings Adoptable Dogs and Second Chances to Fairhope
Paws on the Patio pet adoption event is coming to Fairhope this October, bringing together adoptable dogs, great food and a community that cares about homeless animals!
The Haven for Animals and Kingfisher Seafood Restaurant invite you to join us Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a special morning on the patio at Kingfisher Seafood, 805 S. Mobile St. in Fairhope.
The Haven will bring adoptable dogs to the restaurant, giving visitors a chance to meet, interact with and get to know some incredible dogs outside the shelter environment. Whether you’re actively searching for a new companion or simply want to support homeless animals in our community, there will be plenty of reasons to stop by.
Adoption Fees Waived at Paws on the Patio Pet Adoption Event
Here’s one of the biggest reasons to join us: adoption fees for eligible dogs 6 months and older will be completely waived thanks to a grant from the ASPCA through its national Rescue Effect campaign.
The Rescue Effect brings shelters and rescues across the country together to increase pet adoptions and help more animals find loving homes. The ASPCA is providing $2 million in grants in 2026 to help participating organizations waive adoption fees and support shelter operations.
Removing the adoption fee doesn’t change The Haven’s commitment to making successful matches. Our standard adoption application and approval process remains in place to help connect each dog with the right family.
And Kingfisher is making adoption day even sweeter: Each family adopting a dog during Paws on the Patio will receive a $25 Kingfisher Seafood gift card.
More Than a Dog Adoption Event
The Paws on the Patio pet adoption event is about more than finding homes for dogs. It’s also an opportunity for local families to learn about resources that help pets throughout our community.
There will be free goodies for kids, and The Haven team will have information about Project PAWS (Pet Alteration & Wellness Services), which helps provide pet owners with access to affordable spay and neuter resources.
You can also learn about Fix’n Ferals, The Haven’s trap-neuter-return program. TNR helps humanely reduce community cat populations by trapping community cats, having them spayed or neutered and returning them to their established outdoor homes.

Bring a Donation and Enjoy Free Dessert
Even if you’re not ready to adopt, you can make a difference for animals in The Haven’s care.
Bring a bag of cat food, paper towels or Milk-Bone dog treats to donate during the event, and Kingfisher Seafood will treat you to a free dessert.
Every donated item helps support The Haven’s animals and community programs.
Kingfisher’s participation also has a personal connection. The restaurant is part of a family-owned restaurant group with Louisiana roots, and its CEO has a lifelong passion for dogs and adoption. Kingfisher describes its Fairhope restaurant as bringing Louisiana cuisine and Southern hospitality to the Alabama Gulf Coast.

The ASPCA’s Rescue Effect reminds communities that one adoption has an impact beyond the animal going home: When a shelter pet is adopted, space and resources become available to help another animal in need.
