Subaru Loves Pets® Month: Waived Dog Adoption Fees All October at The Haven

October is one of our favorite times of year at The Haven because it’s Subaru Loves Pets® Month! We’re thrilled to partner once again with Tameron Subaru to help more dogs find their happily-ever-after.

Thanks to a generous $4,000 gift from Tameron Subaru, The Haven is able to waive all dog adoption fees ($175 value) throughout the month of October. The same adoption application process applies, but your adoption fee is on Subaru! Every adoption this month makes room for another pet in need, so your decision to bring home a furry friend has an even bigger impact.

Why It Matters

According to the ASPCA®, nearly 5.8 million dogs and cats entered shelters and rescues in 2024. Many of them are still waiting for a second chance. Subaru’s commitment—through a grant administered by the ASPCA®—helps The Haven cover essential costs such as medical care, spay/neuter surgeries, vaccines, microchips, and more .

What’s Included with Every Haven Dog Adoption

When you adopt from The Haven, you’re not just bringing home a pet—you’re welcoming a family member. Each adoption package includes:

  • Up-to-date vaccinations (including rabies for dogs 3 months+)

  • Spay/neuter surgery

  • Microchip and registration

  • Deworming

  • 30-day flea, tick, and heartworm preventative

  • Heartworm testing (6 months+) and treatment if needed

  • Free bag of Hill’s Science Diet

  • Coupons from area businesses

Mark Your Calendar: National Make A Dog’s Day

On October 22, Subaru will celebrate the 7th annual National Make A Dog’s Day—a special day that encourages dog lovers everywhere to do something extraordinary for their furry friends. We invite our community to join us by adopting, fostering, or supporting shelter dogs.

This is especially meaningful for the dogs we call “Underdogs”—seniors, dogs with special needs, or those overlooked too often. They may need a little extra love, but they have just as much to give.
