The City of Fairhope Animal Shelter (COFAS) serves as the municipal animal control facility for the City of Fairhope, Alabama. Since 2000, it has been managed by The Haven No-Kill Animal Shelter through a pioneering Public-Private Partnership that has transformed how our community cares for its animals.
Through this partnership, The Haven provides day-to-day shelter operations, medical care, adoptions, and lifesaving programs on behalf of the City — while the City of Fairhope Animal Control handles municipal animal control duties. Together, this collaboration has helped Fairhope achieve and maintain a 90% or higher save rate, meeting the national benchmark that defines a no-kill community.

🏠 Our No-Kill Commitment
Every animal that enters the City of Fairhope Animal Shelter is given every opportunity to find a loving home. Healthy animals and those with treatable illnesses or manageable behavior issues are never euthanized. Instead, they receive the care, time, and resources they need to move forward into a brighter future. The Haven is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill animal shelter and does not euthanize companion cats and dogs that are healthy or have treatable illnesses or behavior issues.
