Christmas time is a fun time for the entire family.  As an animal lover, do you remember the great Christmas’ of your past when your special furry friend was there, too?  The week-end of Dec. 8-9 is a chance to create one of those memories, for you and for your family.  That Saturday and Sunday,The Haven will be at Petsmart at the Eastern Shore Shopping Plaza from 11am to 4pm.  They will have available dogs and cats in attendance for anyone who’s looking for their next best friend.  And, as always occurs this time of year, Santa will be there to have photos taken with your pets!

November 2012 is around the corner; can the holidays be far behind?  Each year, the Haven participates in the National Home for the Holidays campaign and they will kick off their Petsmart participation on Saturday, November 10, from 11am to 3pm at the Eastern Shore Shopping Plaza location.  The Haven has a goal to find a record number of homeless cats and dogs a life-time loving home during this campaign.   On that day, available animals, which have been pulled from shelters in Baldwin County, will be at their best behavior for that potential new home. The Haven’s life-saving team will be on site to talk to potential adopters in helping them find the right pet for their home, discuss the adoption process and answer any other questions that may arise.   Information on how one can become a volunteer and join The Haven in their mission of eliminating euthanasia as a form of animal control will also be available.  And as a further incentive, thanks to a grant from Best Friends, the adoption fees for all the Haven’s animals have been reduced from now until December 31.  Adoption fee for dogs will be $70 (usually $90), and cats will be $45 (usually $65)

LASF 2012 Check Presentation

Haven Board Member, Page Sute (left) accepts a check from representatives of the Lower Alabama Songwriter’s Festival.   Randy Branch (holding Haven dog Keiko) presents the check to Sute, along with Kimberly Davis (holding Haven dog Whiskey), and Charles Davis.  For the 2nd year, the festival selected the Haven to receive a portion of the proceeds of the recent event.  A total of nearly $2300 was raised for the shelter, now in its 12th year of sheltering animals.  In addition, the funds will enable the Haven to further progress in ending euthanasia as a form of animal control in Baldwin County.  “The organizers of the Lower Alabama Songwriter’s Festival are a great group to work with,” said Sute.  “The Haven will be able to give the homeless dogs and cats of Baldwin County a chance at a better life.”
