But have you ever stopped to think about what would happen to your pets if something unexpected happened to you?\nIt’s a difficult topic to consider, but it matters. Thoughtful planning not only protects your own furry family members, it can also extend your compassion to countless other animals in need.\n \n\nWhy Estate Planning Matters for Pet Owners\nUnlike children, pets are legally considered property. Without specific instructions, your beloved dog, cat, or companion animal could end up in a shelter, or worse, after your passing. Estate planning ensures:\nYour pets are placed with trusted caregivers\nFunds are set aside for their continued care\nYour wishes are clearly documented and legally protected\nSetting up a pet trust or naming a caregiver in your will gives you peace of mind that your pets will be cared for just as you would want.\n\n \n\nContinue Your Legacy of Compassion\nFor those who have supported The Haven’s mission of rescuing, healing, and rehoming homeless pets, there’s a meaningful way to continue that legacy: include The Haven for Animals in your estate plan.\nBy naming The Haven as a beneficiary of your will, trust, retirement plan, or life insurance policy, you ensure your commitment to animals lives on long after you’re gone. Your legacy gift will help:\nProvide food, shelter, and medical care for abandoned pets\nSupport lifesaving programs and adoptions\nGive second chances to animals who have no one else\n\n \nHow to Get Started\nIncluding your pets and The Haven in your estate plan doesn’t have to be complicated. We recommend:\n\n\n\n1\n\nSpeak with an estate planning attorney about your wishes\n\n\n\n2\n\nDesignate a pet guardian and set aside funds for their care\n\n\n\n3\n\nName The Haven for Animals as a charitable beneficiary in your will or trust\n\n\n \n\nFor Your Attorney\nLegal name: The Haven, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit559 S Section St, Fairhope, AL 36532Tax ID: [63-1253853]\n\n \n\n\nThank you for planning with love\nFor your pets, and for the ones still waiting for homes. Have questions about leaving a gift to The Haven? We’re happy to help.\n Call (251) 929-7402\n Email Us\n \n\n
