The Haven is located in beautiful Fairhope, Alabama helping hundreds of homeless cats and dogs each year. We are a no-kill adoption guarantee animal shelter-meaning that we do not euthanize animals due to lack of space. Since we are a limited-intake facility, we can only assist
The Haven takes in all adoptable cats and dogs that are unclaimed by their owners from all four animal control shelters in Baldwin County.
- Baldwin County Animal Control Shelter
- City of Bay Minette Animal Control Shelter
- City of Daphne Animal Control Shelter
- City of Fairhope Animal Control Shelter
These cats and dogs are held for 7 days, waiting for their owners to reclaim them before being placed on the euthanasia list. We monitor this group, and for the past several years have been able to accept and place every adoptable dog scheduled for euthanasia in Baldwin County.
Once the animals arrive to our shelter, they are processed by our animal care technicians. Each animal is screened for medical and/or behavioral issues, receive vaccinations, de-wormed, treated for external parasites like ticks and fleas with Frontline and/or Advantage, tested for heartworms, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered. Felines are tested for feline immunodeficiency virus and feline leukemia.
To help end euthanasia as a means of animal control, the animal control shelters in Baldwin County have joined forces with Maddies® Fund and The Haven to create the Maddies Pet Rescue Project in Baldwin County.
