One of the most important tools in creating a no-kill community is having a low-cost micro-chip program in place.  Each year millions of lost and abandoned animals are taken in by animal welfare organizations across North America, of these animals only 14% of the dogs and 4% of the cats (estimated figures) are ever returned home. The major reason for failing to re-unite a lost pet with its owner is because the pets are unidentifiable. Microchipping offers pet owners the only truly permanent method of identifying your pet and linking the animal back to you, the owner. If you want to improve your pet’s chances of getting home in a lost pet emergency – microchipping is your best option.

In our community, The Haven has been micro-chipping all of our adoptable animals before release since 2006.  We also hold public rabies and micro-chip clinics throughout our community.  The cost for our micro-chips is just $20, compared to other prices as high as $100. We have the lowest price in town.

Through our program, we have seen a larger number of animals arriving at our animal control shelters in Baldwin County scan positive for a micro-chip.  We have recognized other partnering shelters now providing not only micro-chips for their adoptables, but also for the public as well.  If you are interested in having your pet micrchipped, please contact our office at 251-929-3980. We are thankful to foundations like Maddies® Fund and our donors who make these programs possible.
