One of the ways The Haven can help sustain our goal of having a no-kill community is through our Humane Outreach program. The Haven is often asked to visit schools to speak with students about our programs and services, responsible pet care, and the humane treatment of animals.

In addition, The Haven has hosted local home school groups, Girl and Boy Scouts troops, and other special interest groups with tours of the shelter.  This includes talks about caring for pets, interacting with the animals, and what we do at the shelter.

Our goal is for tomorrow's generation to understand the importance of having a peaceful humane world where pets and people can live in harmony.  We continue to follow the American Humane Guidelines for Humane Outreach:

  • Builds stronger character
  • Empowerign for Positive Change
  • Reducing Violence
