The Haven will be sponsoring a life-saving microchip and rabies clinic on Saturday, June 30 from 11am to 2pm at Eastern Shore AnimalHospital. Dr. Ron Shindler and his staff will dispense them at their Plantation Boulevardl ocation in Fairhope. During this 2012 hurricane season,The Haven strongly suggests that pets be an important part of your disaster preparedness, which includes microchipping. Therefore, at this clinic and thru November 30,The Haven will microchip your pet for $10, one-half the usual price. In addition, everyone who gets their pet microchipped will receive a free Aloksak bag which is a strong, 12x12 polymer bag with a patented leakproof/airtight seal to hold important pet items if you need to evacuate.
Rabies vaccines will also be administered for $10. Rabies is a serious viral disease that affects warm-blooded animals. While the incidence of rabies in domesticated animals has been virtually eliminated, the occurrence in bats, raccoons, skunks and other wild mammals is still prevalent. Because of its high communicability, getting a rabies shot for our pets is required by law.
If your pet needs a rabies shot or microchip, mark your calendar to come to the Eastern Shore Animal Hospital on June 30.
